Urgent Care for Broken Bones and Fractures
Fast, Local Medical Care for Broken Bones
A fracture can stop your day in its tracks, but help is close by. At CareWell, we provide urgent care for broken bones seven days a week with quick check-ins, on-site imaging, and treatment for the most common injuries in kids and adults.
Our teams see wrist and ankle fractures from slips on the sidewalk, finger and toe breaks from weekend projects, and buckle fractures from playground mishaps. We move fast, explain everything, and send you home with a clear plan.
Choosing urgent care means convenience. At our walk-in urgent care centers, you can come right in or reserve a time online. That flexibility matters when you’re deciding how to get evaluated after a fall at the rink or a tumble on the stairs.
We focus on efficient visits – exam, imaging, stabilization, and follow-up instructions – so you’re not spending hours in a waiting room wondering what comes next.
Symptoms of a Broken Bone
Not every painful injury is a fracture, yet certain clues point strongly in that direction. Here are the most common symptoms of a broken bone:
- Sudden sharp pain after a fall, twist, or direct blow (including sports injuries)
- Swelling and warmth over the injured spot
- Bruising that appears quickly
- Trouble moving, gripping, or bearing weight
- Noticeable deformity or a limb that looks shorter or angled
- A popping or cracking sound when the injury occurred
- Numbness, tingling, or pale fingers/toes beyond the injury
If you suspect a wrist, forearm, or elbow break, come in promptly – early broken arm treatment limits swelling, protects nerves and blood flow, and speeds the path to proper healing. And if you’re unsure whether it’s a sprain or a small break, we’ll sort that out for you with a focused exam and imaging of the injured area.
Do We Do X-Rays and Splints?
Yes. Every CareWell Urgent Care center is equipped for urgent care X-rays, and our clinicians read films during your visit so you leave with answers. Our X-ray imaging helps us identify hairline cracks, buckle fractures in children, and simple displaced breaks that can be stabilized right away. We also check nearby joints, compare sides when helpful, and look for small avulsion injuries that hide in the corner of a film.
After we confirm the type and location of the fracture, we talk stabilization. Simple, stable breaks are excellent candidates for splinting in the clinic. Splinting protects the bone, reduces pain, and keeps healing on track.
For injuries that need surgery, involve open wounds, or risk blood flow or nerve function, we’ll stabilize the limb, control pain, and coordinate a rapid referral to an orthopedic specialist or hospital.
Urgent Care or Emergency Room?
It’s normal to wonder where to go after an injury. Our urgent care services are ideal for a suspected minor, closed fracture without major bleeding or head/neck trauma. We examine the injury, image the area, stabilize it, and get you home with instructions. That saves time and often costs less than a hospital visit.
Know when to go to ER for a fracture:
- The bone is visible through the skin or there’s a deep, heavily bleeding wound
- The limb looks severely deformed or you cannot feel/pulse the fingers or toes
- The injury follows a high-speed crash, a big fall, or there are multiple injuries
- You have severe pain not improving with immobilization or pain medication
- There are signs of a serious infection (fever with a painful, red, hot wound)
- You sustained a head injury, neck/back trauma, or fainted with the event
If you’re uncertain, call your nearest CareWell. Describe what happened and what you’re feeling. Our staff can guide you to the safest destination and let the receiving emergency care team know you’re on the way.
How We Treat Minor Fractures
At CareWell Urgent Care, we follow a structured approach to safely manage most minor fractures. Our goal is to protect the fracture, reduce pain, maintain safe motion, and support a steady return to normal activities.
- Initial Approach: Control pain, protect the injury, review X-rays with you, and explain healing week by week.
- Stabilization: Begin with splints for 48 to 72 hours, then move to casts or braces based on the bone and activity; buddy taping or post-op shoes for fingers/toes.
- Pain Management: Rest, elevation, and over-the-counter remedies; monitor for numbness, tightness, or color changes.
- Movement & Function: Gentle motion exercises, like finger movements for wrist fractures, to prevent stiffness.
- Follow-Up: Rechecks or orthopedic visits, share records, provide return-to-work notes, or guide young athletes on safe timelines. Walk In or Save Your Spot for Broken Bone Treatment
