Carewell UCAOA Accreditation
CareWell Urgent Care Centers Receive UCAOA Accreditation
Distinction recognizes quality, safety and the scope of services CareWell provides
QUINCY, Mass., June 4, 2014 – CareWell Urgent Care today announced that it has been awarded with accreditation from the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA). As the highest level of distinction, UCAOA Accreditation is the only program of its kind to showcase urgent care centers that meet both certification criteria for scope of services and accreditation standards of quality and safety.
Launched this year, the UCAOA Accreditation program is the only existing urgent care accreditation. The designation not only recognizes the standard criteria for quality and safety, but also the scope of services provided in the nuanced urgent care industry. Through the UCAOA Accreditation, a facility demonstrates that it has met nationally standardized criteria to provide high-level care, and achieved excellence in areas including governance, HR, patient care processes, environment, health record management, patient privacy/rights and scope of care.
“We are proud to receive formal accreditation from the UCAOA,” said CEO Shaun Ginter. “As the urgent care industry grows, it will be important to designate those providers that are truly proving the highest quality care. At CareWell, patient safety and satisfaction is unequivocally our top priority, so we’re thrilled to get to wear the UCAOA’s badge of honor.”
Urgent care centers are rapidly gaining popularity across the United States as an alternative to emergency room care. According to the Urgent Care Association of America, there are approximately 9,000 urgent care centers in the United States, with 40 percent expecting to expand their existing site or add another site. CareWell anticipates opening more than five new clinics in 2014.
“The urgent care industry is experiencing explosive growth and strong demand from consumers who want convenient, affordable and quality healthcare,” said Dr. Nathan Newman, president of the UCAOA Board of Directors. “UCAOA is the only UC accrediting organization that encompasses scope of practice, quality and safety. This accreditation process solidifies and builds upon our commitment to delivering the highest quality care whenever a patient visits one of our certified and accredited centers.”
CareWell centers treat patients for any non-life-threatening, but still urgent, illnesses or injuries. They offer select preventative care services, including flu shots, vaccinations and sports physicals, and have on-site X-ray and lab capabilities. All CareWell locations are open 8:00am-8:00pm seven days a week. Additional information can be found at carewellurgentcare.com.
