CareWell Urgent Care to Open Third UMass Memorial Health Care
Affiliated Center in Northborough

Growing New England urgent care chain and top Worcester, MA health system
open new center

QUINCY, Mass., November 5, 2015 –A UMass Memorial-affiliated CareWell Urgent Care center, located at 333 Southwest Cutoff near the Northborough Wegmans, will open November 12.  This new urgent care center will provide area residents with an integrated healthcare solution, serving patients based on their individual needs.

“CareWell, in affiliation with UMass Memorial Health Care, is excited to open our third center together,” said CEO Shaun Ginter. “This new center in Northborough will enable more people in Central Massachusetts to receive quality care affordably, conveniently and efficiently.”

“We are very pleased with the results of our work with CareWell Urgent Care and the impact our affiliated urgent care centers have made on patients in Worcester and the surrounding area in just a short period of time,” said Eric Dickson, MD, president and CEO of UMass Memorial Health Care. “What we have learned is that patients are looking for alternatives to the traditional and oftentimes unnecessary visit to the hospital. This facility will allow us to meet the needs of Northborough patients in the comfort and convenience of their own neighborhoods.”

UMass Memorial Health Care can now refer appropriate patients to nearby CareWell centers, reducing wait times and costs for non-urgent illnesses and injuries. CareWell clinics are located in close proximity to UMass Memorial Health Care hospitals, ensuring these referrals can be made quickly and conveniently, even in an emergency and the Northborough center will be located adjacent to a new UMass Memorial primary care practice slated to open in a few weeks.

CareWell Urgent Care has 14 centers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Additional centers in Massachusetts are slated to open over the next 12-18 months. CareWell offers medical care from Board-certified doctors, with no referral or appointment necessary. Patients can visit CareWell centers for all non-life-threatening, but still urgent, illnesses or injuries, including colds, flu, infections, fractures, cuts, rashes and allergic reactions. Centers also offer preventative care such as flu shots, vaccinations and routine physical exams with on-site x-ray and lab capabilities. Additionally, CareWell provides employers with comprehensive occupational medicine services that help businesses reduce the cost of healthcare while maintaining a healthy workforce.

CareWell Urgent Care centers accept most insurance plans including Medicare and Medicaid and the copay and visit fees are comparable to an office visit with your primary care doctor. If you do not have insurance, CareWell also offers affordable self-pay rates. CareWell centers are open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Patients can also make appointments online.
